If you have journeyed with me on this blog you will know I believe: It all begins and ends in Jesus. All you have to do is read John 1. This is and was the great plan of a loving Father to His creation: to give His own Son for a ransom, a payment, a propitiation for the entire human race. For Jesus to rise from the dead as a first fruits for anyone who simply believes in Who He is. I have talked about this in pretty much every blog post since Thanksgiving, November 28, 2014 (It is Time to Let Go of the Rules-Otherwise Known as the Law). I was scared to write this post and in doing so I knew there would be consequences. Yet this “conversion”for me was much like Paul’s Damascus story or like Lucy, if you have ever read Prince Caspian, I had to follow Him even if no one else followed (my husband heard me out and knew it was truth). Because I did choose to write about my journey my church told us to leave, asked others to shun us, and block us on social media. We left and several of our close friends left when they found out they were lied to about us, were told to shun us but didn’t, and were told there would be consequences to not shunning us. This post is important to me. I am desiring to articulate what the Lord showed me so that it will be understood and that you also will see how every scripture falls into place when you understand this. I had been talking with a friend and we were discussing deep things like love, loving yourself, food, taking care of our bodies, loving our bodies and the Lord hit upon something that I wanted to share with you today and some of the things He showed me before and after I was off the phone.
First thing that morning the Lord spoke clearly to me saying,”Perfect love casts out all fear”. I responded, “Yes Lord, we have talked about this before.” Then nothing. I received a message from a woman thanking me for my blog and I prayed she would know how much God loved her and that His love would cast out her fear. Then my friend called and we talked and of course it led to the scripture above and also this one:
“Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.”Philippians 4:8 NASB
Lately I would see this scripture and it would be like nails on a chalkboard for me. Which means the Lord wants to help me see this through His eyes now and not man’s eyes.
This is so simple that anyone even a stay at home, homeschool mom, like me, can understand. Later that day He showed me a vision of a tree and reminded me about how symptoms in your body are the leaves of the tree and how we must look at the dirt where the roots are to see what is going on to cause the symptoms. He reminded me of our “core values” and if they are not aligned with the Truth then we might say one thing but believe something entirely opposite which in turn shows up in our walk (the leaves). Whatever our core beliefs are we act out of them. We may say “God is Sovereign” but then we are shocked and will not believe He would move amongst a group of unbelievers or how could He ever show up outside the four walls of church during a secular song with maybe no believers in the room. He can and will do whatever He wants, when He wants because He is Sovereign, just look at this video The Greatest Showman. Yet, people try to limit Him to their own box, what is comfortable for them or where their core beliefs are found. When the pastor, three years ago, asked me about what the Lord had shown me he could not or would not see it. He may say one thing but in his core values he didn’t believe it. At the end of our first meeting I had said to him, “The difference in what we believe is I believe that God will never leave me nor forsake me and you believe God turns His face from you when you sin.” This is many times called “tension” in scripture which isn’t true; for further understanding read this: Tension. Our core values are so important to us in our walk because this is where our real beliefs stem from, you can read more here: Core values and Grace. Here is a picture that depicts what the Lord showed me:
People see symptoms
get focused on their behavior
try to find ways to treat their symptoms
never realizing that their symptoms
are caused because of their core beliefs.
We automatically act out of our core beliefs. Our core beliefs is what leads us in our “walk”. This is where the rubber meets the road. See the leaves are the “effects”, which most Christians are looking at. Like outcomes of our choices or cause and effect in our life. Christians are so focused on this that they have completely missed the bigger picture.
They are caught up with “SIN” and making sure their leaves don’t show any signs of it. They are looking so closely at the leaves they don’t actually acknowledge where their roots are really planted or that they have gone back to the wrong tree in the first place. People see the symptoms and get focused on their behavior and try to find ways to treat the symptoms never realizing that their symptoms are caused because of their core beliefs. What our core beliefs are will always show up in the effects or results in our life. It is the basis of what Jesus spoke of ie: I am the vine you are the branches, rest in Me, I am the Water, I am the Bread, and I am. It is so simple, either our core beliefs line up with the Truth or they line up with our own belief systems we have created out of fear. It becomes all about the sin and the need to behave properly to receive God’s love instead of believing God first loved us. See this is not tension in scripture. One is talking about the law or the tree of good and evil. The other is talking about grace and the tree of life. So many Christians start off with the tree of life when they first get saved and then are found running back to the tree of good and evil because the church is teaching them to. Our house has not been first planted on firm ground, as Jesus had wanted; but on the shaking, moving sand of our own behavior. Our behavior will never line up perfectly with Christ’s behavior, ever. We will make mistakes, fumble, do the wrong thing…..we are simply humans living in a fallen world who have been given the tree of life as a free gift from our Father in Heaven through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus. Let me make a comparison here:
In humanity, whether you are a believer or a non-believer, you live from either of these two places. Unbelievers will fall under the first row. Sadly, we have many, many Christians who first are under the second row and then go back to the first row, like I said above. We hear sermons about which “wolf we are feeding…the black or the white wolf?”, which falls under the first row of fear based living. We may have heard if we live under the row of grace we will go down a slippery slope and lose our salvation; but this isn’t true. This is a false narrative based on the row of fear. Do you see how we can only live under one of the two belief systems? We can’t do both. You have to choose to believe one or the other. Three years ago I was saved from fear and the need to perform (tree of good and evil) and very firmly planted in Grace (tree of Life). I have understood this in the depths of me for three years but finely can articulate it now. Let me say a couple of pictures tell a thousand words. People said we were on a slippery slope and that we had lost our salvation; but I say we found love and we found our salvation. Do our choices always look perfect, no….but we understand God is the pruner, not ourselves. He prunes what is not looking healthy and He also is the only One that can bring good out of all things, not me. See my family and close friends understand this as we have walked out the last three years with God and each other. We have also come to understand through this experience that God loves us no matter what we have done or haven’t done. Jesus died on the Cross to completely wipe out our sin catalog for all time from our Father’s files. We are no longer judged but simply loved, we choose to believe that God loves us no matter what, He never turns His face from us if we “sin”, and He is always looking towards us saying, “What sin???? I don’t see any sin at all because My Son has already paid the price and has wiped you clean.” There is no need to go to Him over and over again saying you are sorry. The payment was paid on the Cross 2,000 years ago; all you may want to do is say thank you. You are simply free to be loved by your Father in Heaven, just as you are. Here is where I see myself floating down a river of pure, perfect love enveloped by My Father because I have focused on what is true, what is honorable, what is right, what is pure, what is lovely, what is of good repute, what is excellent and what is worthy of praise—-WHICH IS AND CAN ONLY BE JESUS AND WHAT HE DID FOR US. Are there consequences to our choices???……Yes, in this world we have consequences and yet still good comes out as we rest in Him because He promised to. It is your choice which set of core beliefs you will have. The top set of core beliefs will produce a life of fear and trepidation, never fully loving yourself or others. The second set will produce love, gratefulness, well…..the product of the fruits of the Spirit. Our deepest desire within each of us is to be unconditionally loved. This is a fact. We will not find that in FEAR but will always find that in GRACE. I will promise you though…if you do choose the second set of beliefs you will be amazed at the leaves you will see being produced because you Simply Believe, not just say, ”God loves me no matter what”.
Sidenote: I feel there is just so much more to this topic that I was unable to convey. I am hoping as the Lord has set me, my family and many friends free He will do the same for you……Help us to see Holy Spirit and make THE CHOICE. With love and grace, Darlene
